Now you can block retweets from individual users with Tweetbot 2.3 for iPhone and iPad
The widely popular twitter client for iPhone and iPad, Tweetbot, has been updated to version 2.3 and brings with it some great new features, including a new tweet detail view with both inline conversations and replies, the ability to stop retweets from individual users, new gestures, and more.

International HTC One X and Galaxy Note get early CyanogenMod 9 builds
If you're a custom ROM aficionado looking to get stuck into rooting and flashing your HTC One X, then there's finally an unofficial build ready that'll let you do just that. The first CyanogenMod 9 port for the international, Tegra 3-powered One X has appeared over on MoDaCo, courtesy of team TripNDroid. In addition to replacing the bright colors of Sense with the more subdued, angular look of stock Android, you also get a mostly-functional smartphone, which is something of a rarity when dealing with early, unofficial builds. Much of phone's hardware is working, with camera and Wifi hotspot being borked in the current build.
The CM9-based fun isn't limited to the One X, though -- the international Samsung Galaxy Note (that's the one that also goes by the name GT-N7000) has received its first CM9 build today, too. The build comes courtesy of renowned Samsung hackers TeamHacksung, and gives N7000 owners their first semi-official taste of CM9. The list of known issues in the first experimental build is fairly short, but one of them will be a showstopper for many -- voice calls don't work properly at the moment, and if you make or receive one, the other person won't be able to hear you. Nevertheless, if you're determined to live on the bleeding edge of the custom ROM scene, we're sure you'll take that sort of thing in your stride. After all, phones are for flashing ROMs, not for talking to people.
So if you're after stability, or something you can use as a daily driver, we'd recommend holding off for now. But those looking to hack around and tinker with the latest and greatest bits from the CM team can find more info, along with download links, over at the source page.

Gladinet maps Amazon Cloud Drive to your Windows desktop
Amazon's recently-introduced Cloud Drive is a great place to store your files online. It offers 5 gigs of totally free space, and U.S. users also get access to the handy Cloud Player app (for Web and Android!) which streams music you upload to your Cloud Drive.
The service could be a little easier to use, however. Until Amazon releases a desktop client, Windows users might want to take another look at Gladinet. The multi-service cloud connector has now added Amazon Cloud Drive support and will let you map a network drive letter to your account with minimal fuss.
Once you've added your credentials to Gladinet, just pick the letter you want to assign to the drive and you're good to go. You can then copy files to and from your Cloud Drive, rename items, and manage folders like you would any local hard drive in your system.
The only downside is that the free version of Gladinet gives you a limited number of cloud interactions. Once you use those up, you'll need to upgrade to the paid version, which costs $49.99. If you work with a number of cloud-based storage providers, however, it could be well worth the price tag.

Study says wind turbines raise surrounding area temperature, but only at night
Who said the butterfly effect couldn't apply to renewable energy? Though wind farms are considered pretty green on the energy-generating spectrum, it looks like they, too, have an impact on the planet. According to a study published today in the journal Nature Climate Change, turbines can raise the local temperature -- albeit slightly. From 2003 to 2011, researchers monitored satellite data for west-central Texas, which is home to 2,350-plus turbines and four of the world's largest wind farms. In that decade, scientists observed a temperature increase of 0.72 degrees in wind farm regions compared to areas without turbines. That warming trend was especially marked at night, when the temperature difference between the ground and the air is highest. The temperature increase was also higher in winter; researchers say that these cooler, windier conditions cause turbines to generate more electricity and therefore create more heat. Since the study didn't find any change in daytime temperatures, it looks like we don't have to ring the global warming alarm just yet.

BlackBerry Music Gateway streams audio over NFC and Bluetooth for RIM-made remote control
It's not the QNX-based smartphone you've all been waiting for, but it should give crackberry devotees something to bop along to. Outed just one day before the company's showcase officially kicks off in Orlando, Waterloo's trotting out its BlackBerry Music Gateway: a car / home stereo accessory that pairs with your BB handset or PlayBook tablet to wirelessly stream audio over Bluetooth or NFC. The $50 peripheral, set for a June release, is meant to turn your RIM-built device into an easy-to-use remote at a distance of up to 30 feet. For that convenient near field communication control, however, you'll need to be packing one of the company's NFC-enabled phones, like the Bold 9790 or Curve 9360/ 9380. Splashiest news to come out of BlackBerry World 2012? We sure hope not. Consider this the trickle before the eventual PR deluge.

Macs Crawling With Windows Malware, Study Finds
One in five Mac computers is carrying malware that could spread to PCs, according to a new research from security vendor Sophos. The security team ran its Mac antivirus software on 100,000 Mac computers. It found that most of the malware found is directed at Windows PCs, so Macs harboring the infections don't show any symptoms.
